Grabouw (Western Cape) – After taking part in the inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile in February this year, swimming sensations Clarice and Carmen le Roux jumped at the opportunity to sign up for the 2016 event that will take place at the pristine Eikenhof Dam at the Grabouw Country Club (Western Cape) on Sunday, 07 February 2016.
The Sanlam Cape Mile is an exciting open water swim. Entrants can choose between an exhilarating mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim.
“Taking part in the inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile was a great experience,” says Clarice. “The vibe made the event extra special, the music was wonderful and everyone was just enjoying themselves. For me the race was the biggest highlight, but I also enjoyed being able to spend time with family and friends afterwards.”
“The event was very well planned and a lot of fun, definitely one of the best organized events I’ve been too,” continues Clarice. “Apart from it being a lot of fun, I’d also recommend the event to other swimmers because they’ll gain great racing experience. My goal at the 2016 event will be to place in the top positions, while enjoying my swim.”
According to Carmen, the 2015 Sanlam Cape Mile was one of the best open water events she’d ever been to. “I have only heard positive feedback from other swimmers. I know this event is going to become one of the biggest around the world. I’m looking forward to the swim the most. I cannot wait to get in and race. My goal will be to give my all and hopefully win the race.”
