Stillwater Sports, the organizer of SA’s premier road running series, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is calling on all runners (and walkers) to #RunForDurban at the 2022 Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K on Sunday 10 July 2022 in support of those affected by the recent floods.
“Durban has been hard hit not only by the pandemic, but by riots and now severe flooding,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “An event like the Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K does not stand in isolation and as we celebrate our 5th year, we feel that it’s very important to support people in need. We love the City of Durban and its residents and want to show our support for those whose lives have been severely affected by the floods.”
“We are very proud to announce that our headline partners, Absa, PUMA, DHL, as well as the event itself have each committed to giving back R1 for every 1km run,” confirms Meyer. “That’s a total R4 per kilometre. Just by participating in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K on 10 July every runner will ensure that R40 is donated towards those in need. Our goal is to raise a minimum R320 000,00 in total and runners and walkers can help us achieve this goal just by entering. The funds raised will be used to purchase non-perishable food items, shoes, clothing, and blankets for those affected by the floods.
