ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun Stage Two Route Announced

“Let Nature Give You A Run For Your Money”

The sixth annual ProNutro AfrianX Trailrun presented by New Balance returns to the picturesque Houw Hoek Inn the weekend of 14 – 16 March 2014.  Event organisers are excited to release the Stage Two route of this much anticipated trail running extravaganza.

According to Nicola Collins, Event Manager, the Stage Two route is a trail runner’s dream stage.  “It consists of 80% single track, some of which is quite technical so training on technical terrain is recommended.  The Stage will start at the same venue as in 2013, the Ongegund Lodge, but it will not finish at Oude Molen as in 2013.  Instead the Stage boasts a new finish at the Paul Cluver Amphitheatre.  The course will follow a more direct route to meet the Gantouw Pass, before a fun descent to the Eikenhof Dam at the Grabouw Country Club. From there runners will follow a spectacular trail up the Groenlandberg Mountain before continuing along a single track contour.  The views are unbeatable.  The final few kilometres will be a fast descent on gravel roads to the Paul Cluver Amphitheatre”.

“We believe that we have found the ultimate AfricanX Stage,” continues Collins.  “We couldn’t leave out the spectacular Gantouw Pass, while the trails between the Grabouw Country Club and Paul Cluver are some of the best you will find, so we found a way to combine these two special sections of running.  Route highlights will definitely include Gantouw Pass, but also the flowing single tracks down to the Grabouw Country Club and the new truly awesome trails along the Groenlandberg to Paul Cluver.  In 2013, once runners had reached the top of the Gantouw Pass most of the climbing was done and it was downhill to the finish line. In 2014, runners need to remember that there is another big climb, which will be almost 20km’s into the stage.  Pacing yourself will play a key role”.

Fondly known as the “Dress Up Stage”, participants are encouraged to go all out.  The best dressed team will be rewarded the evening at prize giving.
