“Let Nature Give You A Run For Your Money”

Stillwater Sports is proud to welcome MTO as an official partner to the Western Cape’s premier three day stage trail run, the Cell C AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS.

According to Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, a large portion of the trails that are enjoyed by runners are on MTO grounds.  “With MTO as an AfricanX partner we are able to improve the route experience of all entrants, thus uplifting the overall experience of the event.  We are proud to have MTO in our corner and look forward to hosting a trail running experience like no other.”

“Forestry started in the Western Cape in the late 1870’s and has formed an integral part of the landscape and economy of towns like Grabouw,” says Lawrence Polkinghorne, MTO Group CEO.  “MTO is a fully integrated timber products and solutions provider.  We are proud to be the largest wood company in Africa.  By partnering with the AfricanX Trailrun we will be able to showcase the beauty of our forests and the land that we manage, including the natural fynbos areas.”

“It’s a privilege to offer what we have to so many like-minded people who love the outdoors, love sport and have a passion for adventure,” continues Polkinghorne.  “Trail running is about diversity and different surfaces and surroundings.  It’s never boring and is always breathtaking.  Every view is truly spectacular.  We are proud to share the experience with each and every AfricanX entrant.”

MTO will be hosting a ‘Chill Zone’ on route.  Trail runners are invited to take a breather, enjoy a glass of cold water and a snack before taking on the rest of the stage.  AfricanX runners can also enter an exciting MTO competition that will be running at the Chill Zone.  Prizes will include annual MTO passes and custom made running shirts.

Interesting FactThe MTO Group offers 7300km of forest roads and 250km of purposely built trails, built and maintained in MTO’s working plantations.
