North West Province – The organisers of two of the North West Province’s most iconic off-road events, the Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic and Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run, are proud to support The Kindness Collaboration, a project aimed at supporting South Africans who cannot afford quality medical care.
“Although a necessity, not all South Africans have access to or can afford quality medical care,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Founded by Fedhealth and Operation Healing Hands, The Kindness Collaboration Project offers its support to these families by raising funds to cover the cost of preventative and life-saving screenings and/or surgeries. We are extremely proud to support such a wonderful initiative. Mountain bikers and trail runners can also contribute by making a donation while entering online for the Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic and/or Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run. Entrants that donate R400 or more will receive a rider jersey compliments of Operation Healing Hands and Fedhealth.”
Says Jeremy Yatt, Fedhealth Principal Officer: “After the extremely difficult 2020 experienced by us all, Fedhealth felt the need to put our name and backing behind a project that could achieve some good in 2021. As such, we have partnered with Operation Healing Hands (OHH), a charity started by a group of doctors, to launch The Kindness Collaboration. This project will see us, working closely with OHH, our members, brokers and service providers, raise the funds to cover preventative and life-saving screenings and procedures of South Africans who cannot afford quality medical care.”
More about The Kindness Collaboration: The Kindness Collaboration is a joint initiative between Fedhealth and Operation Healing Hands (OHH). All medical professionals associated with OHH provide their time and skills for free; the funds raised will therefore go towards expenses such as consumables and random medical expenses.
During 2021 The Kindness Collaboration will focus on four initiatives (one per quarter): 1. free circumcision
clinic, 2. free surgery for qualifying patients, 3. free pap smear and mammogram clinics and 4. free eye care
clinics.
