Cape Town (South Africa) – The FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN took the Mother City by storm in May with over 9 000 runners and walkers lining the streets to be part of the inaugural event . This impressive feat was instrumental in the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN’s R40 000 donation to Die Burger’s Kersfonds.
“We value the role that our media partner, Die Burger played in the success of the first FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN,” says Michael Meyer, Stillwater Sports: Managing Director. “Die Burger Kersfonds is a brilliant initiative and we are happy to be able to contribute towards the exceptional work that they do. Due to the superb support received from the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN runners we are happy to be able to increase our donation from R20 000 to R40 000”.
According to Azelia Morkel, Die Burger: Marketing Manager, Die Burger is unbelievably proud to be associated with the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN. “The event impacted on the Mother City in every positive way possible. By supporting Die Burger Kersfonds it has also had an effect on the future of South Africa’s youth. We are extremely grateful that the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN also realises the value of this fund. The donation will be used for maintenance of the house where the children stay, as well as for financing some of the children who would not be able to afford to attend the house and the programmes”.
Die Burger Kersfonds is a non-profit organisation that was started in 1957 with the aim of assisting with the educational needs of less fortunate children, developing the youth’s leadership skills and giving children a home while they attend these different programmes”.
