Taking place at the picturesque Blaauwklippen Wine Estate (Stellenbosch) on Sunday 12 September 2021, the 6th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge will boast a whopping R30 000 prize purse for the Marathon (+-60km).
“The financial impact of the pandemic has been far-reaching,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the event. “With events only recently being given the greenlight to proceed (under strict protocols), we are proud to be able to offer a R30 000 prize purse for the 2021 Fedhealth MTB Challenge Marathon. The Overall Men’s and Women’s winners will each take home R5000, with R3000 going to second place and R2000 to third place. A percentage of the prize purse will also be allocated to the top three finishers in the following categories: Senior Men and Women, Sub Vet Men and Women, Vet Men and Women, Master Men and Women and Grandmaster Men and Women.”
“We also have beautiful trophies that will be up for grabs in both the Marathon (+-60km) and Half Marathon (+-28km) events,” continues Meyer. “We are excited to welcome mountain bikers to the start of the Fedhealth MTB Challenge on Sunday 12 September. We trust that the added motivation will encourage some exciting racing on event day.”
