Junior mountain bikers will get to cycle up a storm in the Winelands at the 7th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event that will take place at the picturesque Blaauwklippen Wine Estate (Stellenbosch) on Saturday 10 September 2022.
A highlight on the SA mountain biking calendar, the Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event caters for ages 1 – 13 with junior MTB enthusiasts choosing between a: 500m (0-5 years), 1.5km (6-9 years) and a 5km (10 – 13 years) event.
“The Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event is the perfect icebreaker to a weekend of sensational mountain biking,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Catering for junior mountain bikers between the ages of 1 – 13, the action will kick off at 10:00 with a fun 500m ride, followed by a 1.5km ride at 10:30 and a 5km ride at 11:00. It is not a race, instead the Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event is about getting outdoors, being active and having fun with family and friends. This event will therefore not be timed. We can’t wait to see SA’s future stars in action at the Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event.”
In 2021 Andreas Mouton from Durbanville had a great time in the 500m Kids Event. “The event was fun. I went fast,” said a very excited Mouton.
Alyssa Bosch from Durbanville was the first female rider across the finish line in the 1.5km Kids Event. “I’m super happy,” said Bosch. “I’m very proud to come first. I’ll definitely be back next year.”
Peyten Solomons from Kylemore (Stellenbosch) led the field in the 5km Kids Event. “It was a really nice event. My favourite part about mountain biking is the sprints.”
