Friday, 01 February 2019 marks the opening of entries for South Africa’s most loved 12km road run, the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN.
Celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2019, the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN is the first of three events that make up the FNB ‘Run Your City Series’. Joburg will host the 4th annual FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN on Tuesday, 24 September 2019 while Durban will close off the series with the 3rd annual FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN on Sunday, 13 October 2019.
“We’re excited to kick off the 2019 FNB ‘Run Your City Series’ in Cape Town with the 5th annual FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports. “A mass participation road running event, the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN encourages runners of all ages (male and female) and walks of life to celebrate the magnificent city of Cape Town. The 12km route will highlight iconic landmarks and boast magnificent views while featuring lively performances from some of Cape Town’s leading performing arts groups.”
“To date the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN has enjoyed the attention of both local and international elite athletes including the likes of Morris Gachaga, Stephen Mokoka, Vivian Cheruiyot, Jackline Chepngeno, Irvette Van Zyl and Tish Jones to name just a few,” continues Meyer. “We look forward to adding to this impressive list with the announcement of our 2019 event prize purse and South African athlete incentives prize purse. Not only will SA’s cream of the crop get to race against the World’s best on home soil, but they will also be rewarded for specified time placings (and SA Records). These will be announced at a later stage.
