“Dress Up Day” guaranteed to impress at the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race

“Let Nature Give You A Run For Your Money”

South Africa’s premier 3-Day Stage Race, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN will celebrate its 12th anniversary at the picturesque Houw Hoek Hotel (Bot River, Overberg Region /Western Cape) from Saturday 19 to Monday 21 March 2022.

One of the many highlights of this iconic trail running celebration is “Dress Up Day” which will be celebrated on the third and final stage, on Monday 21 March.

“One thing that Dress Up Day has taught us is that the trail running community has a great sense of humour,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN. “Every year the outfits just get better and better. We’ve had runners dressed as super-heroes and/or villains, we’ve had doctors and nurses, trail runners dressed in animal suits, there’s been various Disney Characters and even sporting heroes to mention just a few. Last year a team arrived at the start line on Day 3 carrying a kayak on their shoulders. The Dress Up competition definitely adds an element of creativity and fun to an already exciting event. Runners and spectators are literally in stitches at the start of the stage.”

“This year Dress Up Day will once again take place on the final stage, Stage Three, on the Monday,” continues Meyer. “The rule is very simple, we are looking for commitment and flair, and both runners need to wear their outfits for the duration of the stage, from start to finish. There are awesome sponsor prizes up for grabs as well as bragging rights for a year. We challenge all entrants to let their creativity reign.”

Launched in 2009, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN is synonymous with magnificent trails, spectacular views, mouth-watering food, a relaxed atmosphere, great vibe and most importantly, teamwork!

Teams of two trail running enthusiasts (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distances each day.  Each stage will feature a different route that is guaranteed to keep things challenging, yet exciting while leaving runners in awe.
