Grabouw (Western Cape) – Swimming enthusiasts will converge in their masses at the picturesque Grabouw Country Club on Sunday, 07 February 2016 to partake in the Western Cape’s most exciting open water swim, the Sanlam Cape Mile.

Swimming sensations ready to toe the line on the day will include Danie Marais, who will be gunning for a successful title defense, Myles Brown, Chad Ho and sisters, Clarice and Carmen le Roux. Top triathletes looking to pit their skills against these elite swimmers will include Marie Rabie (South African Olympian), Lisa Nordén (Swedish Olympic silver medalist 2012), Jodie Stimpson (British 2014 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist) and Flora Duffy (Bermudan Olympian/reigning XTERRA World and XTERRA South African Champion).

Well known South African radio personality, Jeremy Harris, will also be seen making his Sanlam Cape Mile debut. Harris will test his swimming ability in the exhilarating mile (1.6km) swim. Swimmers not yet comfortable with this distance can opt to take part in a refreshing 500m swim instead.

“We are extremely proud to be associated with the Sanlam Cape Mile. As WealthsmithsTM, we have a good understanding of what goes into delivering an event at this level and realize that success doesn’t happen overnight. The Cape Mile is a world standard event. The level of the participants has been overwhelming. We are also excited to have highly recommended partners such as Speedo on board to further help raise the level of this weekend’s swim,” said Robert Thompson, Head of Marketing and Communications at Sanlam Investments.
