Bradley Weiss pre-XTERRA Pezula Interview

NEWSPORT MEDIA sat down with BRADLEY WEISS, before he heads out to do XTERRA Pezula on the 10th of July 2014

1. How many times have you competed at Totalsports XTERRA PEZULA?

I raced the Totalsports XTERRA PEZULA for the first time in 2013

2. Where did you place at the event(s)?

I finished well down in 7th position and hope to improve on that this year.

3. What do you enjoy most at this event?

I am a runner at heart, Totalsports XTERRA PEZULA is one of the few opportunities where we race the duathlon format of a multisport event. I really enjoy having the opportunity to run twice during one event.

4. Is the competition any easier at Totalsports XTERRA PEZULA?

Racing on SA soil is never easy. We have one of the most competitive cultures and it always results in a tough racing environment. Not only do we breed a competitive culture but we also have some truly world class multisport athletes, winning Xterra Knysna will not be an easy task for anyone.

5. What are you hoping to achieve?

It’s been a great first half to 2014 for me, I have raced a lot and achieved many prior goals which I had set for myself when starting out in January this year. After Totalsports XTERRA PEZULA I plan on taking a well deserved mid season break, but I would love to finish off on a high before I go on holiday. My intentions are clear, I want to win.

6. Who will be your toughest competition?

I have not yet seen a start list but 2013 defending champion Stuart Marais will always be the man to beat in a Duathlon. Known as the white Kenyan his run is second to none and backs it up with some real strength on the bike. With no real weak points I think he will be my toughest competition.

7. Why would you recommend this specific XTERRA to newcomers to the sport?

The usual Xterra format being swim bike run often sounds very intimidating to a first timer mainly because swimming is something not many feel 100% comfortable with. This specific race being a duathlon (run bike run) allows for a much lower barrier for entry and gives the opportunity to anyone interested to come and take part in a truly fun event!

We wish Bradley well and cannot wait to see him in action!
