Gauteng runners are invited to join the fun-filled 10km AFRICANX Training Run 2 that will start at 07:00 at the Wolwespruit Bike & Trail Park in Tshwane on Sunday 05 February 2023.
“The AFRICANX TRAILRUN is South Africa’s premier 3-Day Stage Race that takes place each year in the Western Cape in March,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the AFRICANX TRAILRUN. “To help trail runners get race ready we are excited to host numerous training runs in the Western Cape and Gauteng. A number of our entrants actually come from Gauteng. The training runs are also the perfect opportunity for runners to get to know each other and to get to know our team.”
“The Wolwespruit Bike & Trail Park is the perfect venue for the AFRICANX Training Run 2 because it is safe and easy to access from all corners of Tshwane,” continues Meyer. “Runners can look forward to a well-marked 4.5km (purple boards) and 6.5km (orange boards) route. By combining the two routes runners will get to enjoy a +-9.5km route as certain sections of the two routes do overlap. The Training Run 2 will be led out by AFRICANX regulars Thabang Madiba, Nico Sterk and/or Franza Landman. Runners can look forward to enjoying trails that boast magnificent scenery and fantastic views from the top of the mountain.”

It gives me the perfect opportunity to share my experience with fellow runners. There is a nice restaurant right next to the start and exit of the trail at the Wolwespruit Bike & Trail Park. Launched in 2009, the AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race is synonymous with magnificent trails, spectacular views, mouth-watering food, a relaxed atmosphere, great vibe and most importantly, TEAMWORK! Teams of two trail running enthusiasts (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distances each day.
