Sports enthusiasts from beCAUSEwe (Non-Profit Company) have signed up for the 4th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge to #ride4jobs&skills in support of the Sparrow Society.
beCAUSEwe (NPC) was founded in 2014 by a group of friends as a way to keep fit, have fun and grow friendships while uplifting the poor and marginalised members of society.
“We have teams that take part in cycle, triathlon and run events under the names: beCAUSEwe TRI / CYCLE / RUN,” says Brad Senekal, beCAUSEwe Co-Founder. “We will participate in the Fedhealth MTB Challenge under the banner ‘beCAUSEwe CYCLE’. We found an amazing partner in Stillwater Sports, who have wholeheartedly helped us to help people. The Stillwater Sports events are absolute quality, well organised, safe and fun. The atmosphere at the 2017 Fedhealth MTB Challenge was upbeat and vibrant, but best of all it was a family affair. Our kids took part and have spoken about it ever since. The course was challenging, fast and fun, while the views were spectacular. This event has been added in ink to our annual calendar.”
“This year we will support the Sparrow Society, a job creation and skills development organisation doing incredible work,” continues Brad. “We will enter a team of 30 (20 adults and 10 children) every day folk who work full time and enjoy mountain biking in their spare time. Each rider will raise funds, be it to the value of the donated entry by Stillwater Sports, or more. These funds will be donated to the Sparrow Society. We look forward to a weekend of active, family fun, but most of all we look forward to getting the funds into the hands of the charity.”

Based in Cape Town, the Sparrow Society is a Non Profit Company with a goal of working towards a more equal and unified society through skills development, job creation and enterprise development.
“Having the beCAUSEwe team ride for our cause is truly inspiring,” says Kate Senekal, Sparrow Society Founder. “The beCAUSEwe team has stepped up and made a commitment to do what they can to help someone else. The funds from this race will go directly towards a new program that we are instituting to help young designers develop a higher skill set in fashion design and product development. This will open up a whole new income avenue for these young creatives and allow Sparrow Society to enlarge its reach both in service offerings and in socio-economic impact. By assisting in the creation of locally and ethically made clothing, the Sparrow Society will be able to further our mission to ‘Change the World One Really Cool Product at a Time’”.
