Lebohang Phalula was the lady to beat in the 10km Totalsports Ladies Race in Johannesburg on Saturday, 09 August 2014. Held in celebration of National Women’s Day, the Totalsports Ladies Race took place at the Roosevelt High School, Emmarentia. Participants could choose between a 10km run/walk and a 5km run/walk.
“I am very happy with today’s win,” said Phalula, who completed the race in an awe-inspiring time of 36 minutes 01 second. “I didn’t race much last year because I was pregnant. I thought my sister would win today, so I was hoping for a top three position. It’s my first win in two years. I had a good race and really enjoyed the support on route. I will definitely be back next year to defend my title”. Mapaseka Makhanya came in second, while Rutendo Nyahora finished third.
Mi Casa, a unique band with explosive talent, kept runners, walkers and spectators on their toes at the Totalsports Ladies Race in Johannesburg.
