So what is XTERRA?Choose one of the following: XTERRA is
So you guessed it. The XTERRA is a trail run, a mountain bike ride and a swim in some of the most spectacular areas of Southern Africa. The Xtrerra is for serious and not so serious athletes who don’t mind when things get a little heated, a little dirty and a little wet on weekends. No XTERRA terrain is ever the same. You will never be the same. Twisted ankles, sun burn, water logged ears – you will be out there feeling alive and perhaps dead on your feet at the same time. But don’t stress, the XTERRA is not a boot camp either. It is your event at your pace. When someone asks you what your time was you can answer “Great time”. The XTERRA is really a down-to-earth triathlon series in every sense.
How XTERRA startedHe Broke Free from the Mall – an excerpt from the unabridged “The History of XTERRA” almost published in 2008. It was a typical Saturday morning. He was in a busy mall surrounded by thousands of shoppers all competing for space, jostling for the best position at the till. People trying to pay for their parking while holding packets and talking on their cell phones. There were queues everywhere: queues for loos, queues for banks, queues for greasy food in synthetic packaging. He started to panic. He started to run. He never stopped running. He ran through the park, his heart was pumping blood to his. His body was released from idle torture. He dived into the nearby lake and He swam and He swam. He got to his little forest hut – He rode his mountain bike into the woods at pace, shouting XTERRA XTERRA at the top of his voice. He was at last free. ( please note XTERRA believes in equality on every level so we spun a coin to see if we would use he or she) Okay so this is not really how XTERRA was started but you get the picture. Who should do XTERRA?Anyone who wants to trail run, swim and ride mountain bikes in spectacular terrain; energised people who want to exercise in a natural environment surrounded by other energised people; you. Who shouldn’t do the XTERRA?Barry Ronge. XTERRA is probably not for someone in Barry’s shape but he is still a great movie critic. The XTERRA is for everyone who is prepared to get off their lazy-boys, do a little training to achieve something and have enormous amounts of fun (and beer) in the process. Enough idle chatter – it is time to enter the XTERRA – you can hear the drums rolling – you can hear nature calling (By the way we have loads of nice loos at our venues for squeamish city types) – just click on enter and enter. You will never look back. Enter the XTERRAThere are two ways to enter – online entries and on-the-line entries – now this may sound confusing – it is – but not really – just enter here online or pitch up to the event and enter before the start time. If you enter online (here) you will be more organised feel better about yourself and make it easier for us. But you can only get the T shirt if you enter online before the closing dates.
